North Country Supervisory Union Facilities Director Danny Pickering Selected as 2026–2027 School Air Quality Fellow
NEWPORT, VT. — North Country Supervisory Union (NCSU) is pleased to announce that Director of Facilities Danny Pickering has been selected by the Center for Green Schools as a 2026–2027 School Air Quality Fellow.
Pickering was chosen following a highly competitive selection process that drew an exceptionally high volume of applications from school facility leaders across the nation. The fellowship program provides specialized training, technical guidance, and funding pathways to help district administrators develop comprehensive plans for cleaner, healthier indoor air.
"Ensuring high-quality indoor air across our schools is vital to creating safe, healthy learning environments where students and staff can thrive," said Jennifer Nye, Assistant Superintendent. "Danny’s selection for this competitive national fellowship speaks to his dedication to operational excellence. We are thrilled that his application was accepted and look forward to the long-term benefits this program will bring to the NCSU community."
As part of the 2026–2027 cohort, Pickering will receive:
- Personalized Training & Technical Assistance: One-on-one support from environmental and facilities experts to design a tailored air quality action plan for NCSU buildings.
- Professional Credentialing: Fully funded access to a recognized indoor air quality credential.
- National Conference Access: Fully paid travel and registration for the Green Schools Conference (February 8–9, 2027) and the School Facilities Leadership Summit (February 10–11, 2027) in Austin, Texas.
- Peer Networking: Ongoing collaboration with a national network of K–12 facility leaders implementing clean air initiatives.
- Grant Funding Opportunities: Eligibility to apply for up to $30,000 in mini-grant funding made available through a partnership with the American Lung Association.
The tools and expertise gained through the fellowship will directly support North Country Supervisory Union's long-term infrastructure health, sustainability goals, and commitment to student and staff well-being.

Dear NCSU Community,
NCSU science leaders would like to share a short video and photos from our 4th Annual North Country Science and Engineering Fair created by Perfect Cadence Events. HERE is the link.
Over 280 students completed an independent science or engineering project and came together to celebrate this accomplishment at Siskin/Coutts camp. Thank you to all of our dedicated judges, teacher volunteers, STEM activity leaders, and Siskin for hosting and providing snacks.
We want to give another shout out to our 15 valued financial sponsors who help keep this event independent of school budget fluctuations and help ensure our students have this opportunity every year. Our kids are exploring, learning and having fun doing it. We feel so lucky to have such a supportive community. See you next year!
